Blank holders serve to hold components securely in position in the application. They are typically held against a surface or contour. The critical factor in this type of application is that the component is not damaged by the pressure but still remains in position without slipping. Depending on the application, the blank holder may need to be temperature-resistant, non-magnetic, abrasion-resistant or non-conductive. High-performance plastics as well as high-performance ceramics are ideal candidates here. For larger components, only the stressed area is produced from the corresponding high-performance material and the pick-up area for the threaded connection in the table, for example, is made of steel.
