Ceramic cylindrical pins - also referred to as dowel pins - are extremely versatile and are used as stops, as bearing shafts for idler pulleys, as printed circuit board holders or for fixture construction in welding technology. The components are also available as a pull version (with an internal thread).

They are used for constructing welding devices because they are electrically insulating and manufactured to ultra-precise tolerances. Previous applications were steel pins with plastic insulation. However, plastics cannot meet the high degree of precision required which means that the toleranced size can no longer be maintained once they are hammered into the bore.

Lösungen - Zylinderstift

We manufacture our cylindrical pins from the special Z-101 material based on zirconium dioxide. The maximum degree of hardness, bending strength and highest impact strength particularly distinguish the cylindrical pins. In addition, they are extremely resistant to abrasion and thus achieve considerably longer service lives than metallic cylindrical pins - even under extreme mechanical stress.

Advantages of ceramics:

  • Electrically insulating
  • Extremely hard, bend-resistant and impact-resistant
  • Frequency-neutral
  • Non-magnetisable
  • Exact fit
  • Resistant to cold welding and welding spatter
  • Temperature stable
  • Wear-resistant

Fields of application:

  • General wear protection
  • Locating pins for welding fixtures
  • Positioning for printed circuit boards and entire assemblies
  • Sensor holders
  • Workpiece carriers
  • Centring elements for high and low frequency measurements

Compatible Materials

Zirconium oxide

Zirconium oxide is an inorganic non-metal material that belongs to the group of oxide ceramics.

Latest applications

Soldering

Soldering is a thermal process used to bring about the fused joining of materials and involves a liquid phase caused by the melting of solder.

Positioning

Positioning elements made from high-performance ceramics are used at various points in car manufacturing, including in car body construction.

Welding

Welding describes joining techniques which involve creating a permanent bond between two components. The components can be made from metallic materials as well as plastics.
